Charlton County Tax Refund Settlement
Publication Date: Feb 7, 2022
This webpage has been created for the benefit of Charlton County taxpayers who may be due tax refunds for having been overcharged when the county incorrectly valued their agricultural land. You will find a list of the refunds due and claim forms below.
To find out if you are a member of the Class Action Settlement, first, click on the "List of Refunds Due Category 1 Class Member" below. If you find your name there, you do not have to do anything further to receive your refund.
If you don't find your name in the first list, click on "List of Refunds Due Category 2 Class Member." If your name is on that list, that means you no longer own the property on which a refund is due and you will need to file a "Claim Form for Category 2 Class Member" on or before April 8, 2022, to give the Administrator your new address. Click on "Instructions for Completing Claims Forms" for more information on filing a claim.
If you don't find your name on either list and you believe you are a member of the Settlement Class, then you will need to file a "Claim for Missing Class Member" on or before March 24, 2022.
If your name is on one of the two lists, but you do not believe the amount of the refund shown is correct, then you will need to file a "Claim Form for Filing an Objection" on or before March 24, 2022.
